Our Home

The Earth is a beautiful blue orb, teeming with the promise and potential of life, sailing through the vastness of the universe. It is also our home and most of us will be anchored to it for the duration of our lifetimes. Those who have had the chance to leave the atmosphere and orbit this world are always astounded at its beauty, its lack of borders, and its vulnerability. American astronaut Donald Williams once said, "For those who have seen the Earth from space, and for the hundreds and perhaps thousands more who will, the experience most certainly changes your perspective. The things that we share in our world are far more valuable than those which divide us."
Our primary duty is to the future of this spectacular planet and the people who inhabit it. Our continued ignorance of the truth and hatred for each other cannot be tolerated if we are to ensure our legacy is one as full of hope and prosperity as we enjoy today. It is time for us all to take a new look at the truth behind our struggles and not hide from the reality that the actions we take right now are shaping the future.
Future generations are going to look back at our time and judge us for our treatment of their home and each other. We owe it to them to begin learning and understanding each other, so the nations and peoples of this world will prosper and fulfill the potential of humanity. As President John F. Kennedy said in a speech at The American University in Washington, D.C. on June 10, 1963:

"So, let us not be blind to our differences, but let us also direct attention to our common interests and to the means by which those differences can be resolved. And if we cannot end now our differences, at least we can help make the world safe for diversity. For, in the final analysis, our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this small planet. We all breathe the same air. We all cherish our children’s future. And we are all mortal. |
In other words, we all have to live together and breathe in the same air on this magnificent planet, of which we are undeniably the caretakers, so we had better learn to live together or we are all going to die together. If we do not learn to take better care of ourselves, our attitudes toward our neighbors, and our attitude toward our anchor; We as a species will either cease to exist, or will exist in a world that is dark and cold to the spirit of its caretakers, the human race.
The time is now…….
